Hi, I’m Alec Spergel lpc.
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor serving clients in DC, Virginia, and New Jersey. I work with adolescents and adults navigating a range of concerns, including anxiety, mood disorders, trauma and PTSD, OCD, eating disorders, and autism spectrum differences.
My approach integrates evidence-based treatments like Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), along with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). At the same time, I place a strong emphasis on exploring the deeper questions that shape our lives—identity, meaning, purpose, and how we relate to ourselves and others.
Therapy with me is both practical and exploratory. We work to understand the patterns that keep you feeling stuck—both mentally and physically—while also building the skills needed to navigate difficult thoughts, emotions, and situations more effectively. I also draw on existential principles to help you reflect on what matters most and move toward a life that feels more aligned and meaningful.
I believe people are capable of developing clarity and direction through a deeper understanding of their experiences. By combining structured, evidence-based approaches with thoughtful exploration, I aim to help clients build resilience, tolerate uncertainty, and engage more fully with their lives.
